Southampton are Trojans' best friends after Kelvin Wyatt's second-half winner toppled Wimborne Wayfarers from the top of Hampshire League Division 1.
Relying on controlling high-flying Wayfarers, Southampton twice went behind in the first half only for Richard Watts to equalise following good build up and ball possession. With both sides vying for advantage it was a solitary Wyatt second-half goal that split the sides at the end. Trojans moved into second place, above Wimborne, after nicking a last gasp 1-0 win at Weymouth.
Mark Ellis snared a last-minute winner for Trojans, with Greg Marsden shining in central midfield.
"Greg controlled the central midfield and many of our short corners came through Greg's involvement," praised Trojans skipper Campbell Williams.
"Generally speaking, it was a good all- round performance."
Southampton University are favourites to fill one of the relegation slots after suffering a 5-3 defeat by fellow strugglers Blandford, but Division 2 leaders Fordingbridge are still going well after spanking Poole 4-1.
Early pace-setters Gosport ended a two-match barren run, beating Ryde 5-1 while Old Edwardians are off the mark with a 4-3 win at Eastleigh.
A last touch cost Southampton seconds a share of the points against London Wayfarers. Freckleton scored for Southampton, but with the seconds ticking away, Wayfarers threw in one last attack to score.
Hampshire under-19 boys' squad saw off Oxfordshire 4-0 and Buckinghamshire 2-1 in weekend matches. They are so far unbeaten in six games, drawing just once.
A win in the last game against Berkshire in two weeks' time will assure Hampshire of the South Championship.
