GILTHEAD bream look set to supply some unusual action during the Lymington Summer Open on Saturday evening, which doubles up as the Wessex Guernsey qualifier and also a Penn Points fixture.

Other species expected during the event, which will be fished from 7pm to midnight, include silver eels, flounders, pout and a bass or small smoothhound.

Tickets for the event have been set at £10, which includes all pools. There will also be a two-man team event costing £2 per team. Junior aged under-17 will have their own prize table with tickets costing £5.

The overall winner will be off on an all-expenses paid trip to the National finals to be held in Guernsey during September.

There will also be cash prizes for all three zone winners and booking-in gets under way at the Lymington clubhouse, situated at the far end of Bath Road car park, from 5pm.

David Rowe, secretary of the NFSA, will be fishing the event and also be on hand to present the awards.

Boscombe & Southbourne SFC stage their annual autumn open on September 1 with fishing from 7pm to midnight in three zones along the Southbourne seafront.

Tickets have been set at £7 plus pools for the heaviest round and flatfish plus a two-man team event. Booking in for the event, which also doubles up as a Penn Point's fixture, gets under way at 5pm from Warren Edge car park.

Swanage AC stage the Swanage Town Council open shore and boat competition on August 19 with fishing from 10am to 5pm. Swanage Angling Centre have all the details on (01929) 424989.

On September 15, the Swanage club stage their annual open shore fixture, which has a £500 top prize, with fishing from 7pm to 11.45pm. Pre-book tickets have been set at £10 for adults and £2 for juniors. There will be a £2 surcharge for tickets bought on the day - full details from Ray Jarvis on (01929) 421775.

A £400 top prize is on offer during the annual open shore fixture to be held along the Ferry Bridge section of Chesil on September 23 with fishing from 12noon to 6am. Tickets have been set at just £5 plus pools, junior tickets will cost only £2.
