YACHTS weren't the only spectacle at Skandia Life Cowes Week - supermarket trolleys were too!

While most of the action was on the water, Cherida Patchett and her band of fundraisers including daughter Jane were tearing round the streets of Cowes on a charity trolley push.

Some 15 Wessex Heartbeat supporters joined in the annual fancy dress event, in the hope of topping last year's fundraising total of £500.

The party set off from Ocean Village on a boat provided free by Blue Funnel. Cherida said: "This is the fifth year we've been sponsored by Blue Funnel, and Safeway in Portswood lend us the trolleys every year.

"It was Blue Funnel's managing director who actually got the ball rolling by suggesting doing a bed push at Cowes."

She added: "I've been a supporter of Wessex Heartbeat since it was launched ten years ago and I've done lots of bed pushes around Southampton. It's great fun - I get a real kick out of it."
