NEW Hampshire PGA Short-Course champion James Ablett has ambitions to play on the European PGA Tour.
The 23-year-old Alresford assistant professional has become one of the best players on the HPGA Tour with wins in the Hampshire Young Professionals Championship and the Meachers Masters already under his belt.
After his one shot win over Chilworth's Ceb Aby at Ampfield's Par Three course last week, Ablett said: "My priority this year is to get my PGA qualifications. I sit my final exams later this year.
"Once I've got that under my belt I'll go for my tournament card next year. That's where my ambitions lie. Hopefully I'll be playing in a lot more next year including the South Region events."
Ablett is Southampton born and bred, but it was at the Lee-on-the-Solent club where he cut his professional teeth under the guidance of Steve Richardson, son of the Lee club professional John Richardson, who is retiring next year.
