Results from recent competitons
LYMINGTON & DISTRICT SFC: An evening small boat fixture produced some disappointing a action mainly to a strong wind with keep the small boat well inshore. Phil Morgan won the event with a 10lb sting ray followed by Pam Ansell who once again beat her better half with a 1lb 4oz silver eel followed by Derek Smith with an 11oz black bream.
A species/specimen shore competition produced a good mixed haul of silver eels, bass, black bream, pout, smoothhound, ballan wrasse, poor cod, shore rockling, mackerel, scad and dabs. The pool for the best specimen was shared by Andy Hopkins with a 7lb 5.75oz bass and Pete Drodge with a 1lb 2.50oz pouting.
The overall winner was Andy Hopkins with 147 points followed by Rowland Blomfield 126, Dave Baker 108, Pete Drodge 97, Malcolm Stote 90 and Colin Saunders 71. Top junior was Ryan Hood with 28 points.
LONIS AC: Sport was pretty good during a roving shore fixture which was won by Steve Saunders with 15lb 3oz which included an 8lb 4.50oz smoothhound while fishing from the deep-water section at Lepe. Tony Chambers was the runner-up with 11lb 4oz which included mullet of 6lb 9oz and 2lb 5.25oz followed by Paul Dibben 2lb 0.50oz, Andy Dibben 1lb 15oz, Brandon Archer 1lb 4oz and James Clark 1lb 2.50oz.
SHIRLEY SAC: A shallow boat fixture saw 24 members go afloat but only ten returned a catch of smoothhound, pout, black bream and silver eels to the scales. Michael Mundy won the event with eight fish weighing 9lb 1oz, included in his catch was a 3lb 8oz smoothhound which was the heaviest fish. Others: 2 Adrian Groves 3lb 3oz, 3 Ian Plested 2lb 12.50oz, 4 Grant Jenner 1lb 13.50oz, 5 Dave Beale 1lb 5.75oz. Juniors: 1 William Plested 5lb 1.50oz, 2 Stuart Patterson 1lb 4.50oz.
NEW MILTON SFC. A measure and return fixture held along the Milford Shingle bank produced a smattering of black bream, sole and smoothhound with Bruce Samber running out the winner with 234 points. The runner-up was Alan Preston, with 177 points followed by Julie Samber with 25 points.
