AN outing to Seatown proved rather interesting for Boscombe & Southbourne SFC members.
Simon Barber, who is far more at home on the river bank, used a 20ft long fresh water rod along with a waggler and a starlite to take 5lb 12oz of flounders, scad, pout and poor cod to finish in third position.
Chris Clark from Lymington, who was fishing his first match in over three months since a serious accident, won the event also using a float rod with just his left arm to record a 8lb 13.750z catch of scad, pout and poor cod.
Craig Prewer was third with 6lb 8.50oz while Pete Christopher came fourth with 4lb 15.25oz.
A 1-10 trigger fish caught by Brian Fisk representing Bournemouth & District was the surprise catch during a six-a-side Neptune knockout competition held against Advance Angling.
Despite the unusual visitor which pushed Bournemouth's weight to exactly 10-0, it was not enough for them to win with the Advance team recording 19-9 of pout and ballan wrasse.
The latest round of the Wessex Division NFSA junior fish of the month award, sponsored by Hansfords, was won by 15-year-old Simon Ardis.
Representing Moneyfields SAC, he finished with a 4lb 10oz spotted ray caught from a boat in the Solent.
The runner-up from the Gosport club was nine-year-old Ashley Caisley with a 1lb 12oz dogfish caught from the shore at Browndown.
