POLE dancers at a Southampton club went through their routines in a closely fought battle for a chance to crack a world record.
Women at For Your Eyes Only in London Road were put through their paces by judges.
The role of the judges was to choose the best dancers to form a team for a 24-hour pole dancing marathon.
The world record bid, which will feature four dancers, will take place in London later this month.
A club spokesman said: "Judges looking for Southampton's representative for the final four-girl team were looking for style, technical ability, stage presence and, crucially for the gruelling 24-hour marathon, stamina."
Winchester dancer Emily Lane, who dances under her stage name Jade, was declared the winner.
The audience also took part in the voting process and all the dancers who went through their paces at the event put on a first-class performance, the club spokesman said.
