Police have named the 16-year-old Winchester youth found dead at his home on Friday.
He is James Matthew Haynard, 16. James worked at a baker's in Winchester High Street.
A post mortem showed the cause of death to be a single stab wound to the heart. Police are not seeking anyone in connection with the stabbing.
Police were called to his home in Greenhill Road, Fulflood, in the early hours of Friday morning where the youth was found collapsed by a member of his family.
He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead at 1.55am.
One neighbour said: "It is dreadful, what a waster of a young life."
Another neighbour said: "They are a very friendly family. The kids always had a lot of friends. The mother was always friendly saying hello."
Floral tributes have been left outside the home. Peter Jenner, headteacher of Westgate School said: "He was a delightful lad and I am very shocked and upset at the news."
