Oh Grandmama!

What a bright shirt you've got;

All the better for line dancing,

Fringed and studded and blue and white

With a coaster step and a vine to the right.

Oh Grandmama!

Oh Grandmama!

What blue jeans you've got;

All the better for line dancing,

Large buckled belt and really hep,

With hip bumps right and a sailor step.

Oh Grandmama!

Oh Grandmama!

What great boots you've got;

All the better for line dancing,

Tassels, chains and long and black

With a shuffle left, rock forward and back.

Oh Grandmama!

Oh Grandmama!

What a big hat you've got;

All the better for line dancing

Worn cowboy style, topped with a star

With a kick ball change and a loud yee-ha.

Oh Grandmama!

Eunice says this poem is written 'with apologies to Little Red Riding Hood', writes Echo poet-in-residence Polly Clark. It's certainly a funny and original version of the fairytale, with a bit of dancing rhythm thrown in!
