Dave Hambridge, of Cormorants Team Sillybaits, topped an excellent return of bumper weights from Wytherington farm at Downton, when winning the latest round of the Cormorants/Toyota Clubman qualifier matches on Tony Beeney's venue.
Hambridge drew peg 17 on Barnmoor Lake, and was quickly into his stride, taking a succession of carp to 8lb on the feeder and maggot to finish on a superb 65lb 4oz. Team-mate Richie Yeo collected second place with an impressive 53lb 13oz, while Phil Stride finished in a close third, weighing in at 52lb.
Eastleigh's latest Toyota Clubman qualifier took place on the club's Highbridge Gravel pit, which saw a string of respectable weights despite the searing heat. John Clark managed to find two bonus bream on the pole and caster from the green shed peg to go with a good bag of bits for a winning weight of 15lb 2oz. Gavin Collins was close on his tail, with a total of 13lb 1oz, and Graham Tappenden was third with 11lb 3oz.
The Stoneham evening match fixture on the Lower Lake saw Mick Marsh of Eastleigh gain his second successive victory, with a winning bag totalling 25lb 4oz. He took two carp on the pole and pellet plus a few bits for his total. Mark Fitzgerald was second with a mixed bag of 20lb 14oz, Dave Self and Graham Tappenden collecting joint third, both taking 13lb 3oz. Harry Salkeld finished fourth with 13lb.
Test Valley AC held their annual exchange venue fixture with Walhampton on Walhampton School Lake. Davey Jones topped a good return of silver fish and perch with 14lb 6oz of fish to 8oz taken on the waggler and maggot. Pete Newman finished close behind him in second spot, collecting 13lb 3oz, including some nice perch to 12oz.
Andy West's haul of 10lb 10oz, which included three quality crucians, was good enough for third, with Dave Wright back in fourth with 10lb.
The last of the Chalkie White evening match fixtures on the Lower Lake at Broadlands saw victory for Cormorants' Rick Kajko, who fished peg 14 for 32lb 4oz of bream to 3lb on the waggler and corn over pellet for a comfortable victory.
Chalkie White was second with 28lb 9oz of good size bream to 5lb taken on the waggler and corn from peg 25. Kev Downer came in third with 28lb 7oz of nearly all small tench taken in the reeds from peg 1. Pete Newman collected a 14lb carp, propelling his total to 25lb 11oz, enough for third place.
The final round of the Ringwood & District evening series on Cranbourne Fruit Farm resulted in victory for Christchurch Angling Centre's Ron Edwards who took 15lb of small carp and bits on the pole, to shade Mickey Haskell with 14lb 3oz. Nigel Groom came in third with 14lb.
The Ringwood & District Annual Ladies Match on Whitemoor Lakes was won by Caroline Groom who finished a fine match to land carp and silver fish for 14lb 11oz, resulting in a comfortable victory. Viv Baker finished second, taking 11lb 4oz, which included a specimen eel of 4lb.
South Reading AC held a match on the Match Lake at Broadlands, which saw a string of huge weights and an average of over 30lb per man. Bob Wallace took a thumping 94lb of carp to the scales on pole and corn from peg 5 to win comfortably from Graham Collins with 67lb 11oz of carp and bream. Ken Millard collected 62lb 5oz to take third.
