DORSET-BASED troubador Gordon Haskell considers himself lucky to be alive.
The popular singer-songwriter, who plays Legends, formerly O'Malleys, in Bevois Valley, Southampton, on Friday, had a terrifying brush with death last month.
"I was on a ten-day tour of Germany with fellow musicians Robbie McIntosh and Hamish Stuart," says Haskell.
"We were nearly all killed in a multiple pile-up on the Autobahn, travelling at 80mph.
"Fraggle, our German road manager, saved the day with his incredible driving skills, dodging cars coming at us sideways at 70mph.
"We were all glad to get home alive.
"Four days later Robbie's house in Bournemouth was struck by lightning, which completely destroyed the roof, rendering him and his wife and four kids homeless for three months."
Making the most of his seemingly charmed life, Gordon is now concentrating on promoting his new CD, Look Out, and is also involved in another exciting project.
"I am immersed in producing an album for EastEnders star Susan George, which may surprise a few people.
"Susan is an old friend of mine, and I hope to complete the album over the next few weeks.
"By that time my single, How Wonderful You Are, will be released, and I'll be doing the rounds of radio stations to promote it, plus fitting in some more live gigs."
Dorset-based Gordon will be singing new songs from Look Out at Legends, plus plenty of old favourites, from 9pm.
