Form a circle...July, when standing cereal is tall and sturdy enough to take an impression, is usually the month when crop circles appear.
And the fields around Winchester are where you are most likely to find them. This fine effort, two miles east of the city and half-a-mile west of Cheesefoot Head, was spotted early last Saturday morning by Andrew Tibbits, of Christchurch Road.
A retired investment manager, Mr Tibbits decided to get a better view, with a joyride in a helicopter at the nearby Winchester Show providing the ideal platform to take this and other photographs,
The white line through the picture is the semi-permanent chalk track made by those attending the annual pop festival in the adjacent punchbowl. The A272 Petersfield road is just out of the picture at the top, while the A31 is similarly out of frame to the right
