SOUTHAMPTON detectives stayed up late on Saturday night in the hope of piecing together the final minutes of a student's life before he was killed on the M27.
A team of five officers handed out 400 leaflets to clubbers and put up posters at the city's Leisureworld complex early yesterday.
They were seeking information about Damian Whitfield, 21, who left the complex at about 2.15am and 45 minutes later was struck by three cars on the motorway in the early hours of July 15.
Police are keen to speak to the person who drove Damian the seven miles to the M27 near Hamble Bridge.
PC Tim Wilson said : "No phone calls have come in so far but I am confident that we will get some important information."
Today students will gather at Oaklands RC school in Waterlooville for a service in memory of Damian, who once attended the school where his father Chris is the headteacher. Family and friends will then go on to the Hulbert Road cemetery where Damian will be buried.
