THEY are the unsung heroes of the office who keep their heads when all those around them are losing theirs.
The skills, techniques and abilities of the region's very best secretaries were recognised at a ceremony on Friday.
Hundreds of secretaries from across Hampshire and Dorset were nominated by grateful bosses for the Daily Echo-backed Barker Personnel Services Secretary of the Year 2001 awards.
Marjolein Mussellwhite, 38, a personal assistant to the sales and marketing director of GeoCenter, in Basingstoke, was crowned overall winner after scooping the Northern Region final.
Nancy Furlonger, 29, of Beattie Rise, Hedge End, Southampton won the Southern Region competition.
Nancy is secretary and personal assistant to the head of risk services and group company secretary of Skandia Life, in Southampton.
Jacqueline Buckingham, personal assistant to the director of Deric-Scott, in Bournemouth, was victorious in the Western Region.
Each regional winner took home a £1,000 cheque and a crystal vase.
