Motorcycle ace Norman White from Andover has confirmed his participation in the 2001 Silverstone Historic Festival.
He will compete as part of a 40-strong grid of the most exciting Formula 750 and Unlimited four-stroke classic racing motorcycles in the world, for the Mike Hailwood Memorial Trophy, the first time that classic motorcycle racing will have appeared at the event.
The 40 riders will kick off the action on each day of the festival, which runs from August 25-27, with eight laps of the two-and-a-quarter-mile International circuit.
White, who will be riding his awesome 1972 748cc John Player Norton, is already champing at the bit and looking forward to the festival.
He said: "When I heard that classic motorcycle racing had been included in his year's Silverstone Historic festival for the first time ever, I leapt at the chance to be a part of it.
"Racing for the Hailwood Memorial Trophy against such high calibre riders and their bikes will be a tremendous challenge - one which I definitely don't want to miss."
