IT'S the biggest talent show on television and one Hampshire girl has had stars in her eyes since walking through those famous doors.

For Leanne Fielder, a pupil at Mountbatten School in Romsey, her appearance as singer LeAnn Rimes on ITV's hit show Stars In Their Eyes has been a dream come true.

The 14-year-old, who lives with mum Carolyn and dad Paul in Launcelyn Close, North Baddesley, entered the show, hosted by Matthew Kelly, after her mum admitted that she couldn't tell the difference between her daughter and the famous American country singer LeAnn Rimes.

Carolyn, a pre-school teacher, said: "She was auditioning for a drama production and was singing along to a LeAnn Rimes song.

"I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the two of them, so I suggested to Leanne that we send in a tape to Stars In Their Eyes."

Thanks to the efforts of her mum, Leanne - who is also a member of Romsey Drama School - managed to beat off competition from 8,000 applicants to win a place on the special children's edition of the show.

Leanne said: "I love singing and I love performing. It was a brilliant day and Matthew Kelly treats everyone like stars, like they are his own kids.

"I'm not quite sure where I'll go from here but fingers crossed someone takes an interest in me after they see me on the show and if nothing comes of it then I'll probably go on to drama school after I finish school in two years."

Leanne is now hoping to get that all important phone call after the programme is aired on Saturday - which would kick start her ambition to sing professionally.

You can see Leanne in action singing How Can I Live Without You at 8.15pm this Saturday on ITV.
