TWO former cricketing brothers have both been chosen for international tours - with British baseball teams. Michael Trask will be leaving later this month to go to Japan with the Great Britain juvenile team.

Elder brother Ryan will go to the USA next month with the British colts team.

Both brothers, from Tadley, switched from cricket to baseball several years ago in their native Johannesburg, South Africa.

A renowned cricket coach and umpire had recommended they try baseball to aid their cricket development.

And when they tried the new sport, they caught the bug.

Their love of baseball continued when the family moved to Britain in 1999.

Ryan, who is 15 and attends Garland School in Burghfield, made his British debut a year ago on tour in Indiana.

He will be travelling to the same colts world series tournament this year with a party of 15 players.

Ryan plays in his Bracknell club's adult national league team, the Wildfire, and recently made the record books by hitting the club's first home run.

"For a 15-year-old, that's quite an achievement," said his club and GB coach Paul Newman.

Michael, who is 11 and goes to the Willink School in Burghfield, will be making a British team debut.

Both boys are catchers and go to Oxfordshire for national squad training.
