A HUSBAND and wife have appeared in court charged with the murder of the Hampshire woman found dead in a Winchester hostel.
Kerry Michelle Lockhead, 20, and Steven George Lockhead, 30, both appeared before Basingstoke magistrates yesterday morning to face the charge of murdering Valerie Ver'a-Tallett.
Kerry Lockhead also faces a charge of GBH with intent to wound.
Valerie Tallett, 38, was found dead on the stairwell of the 26-bed hostel in Sussex Street at 11.45pm on Saturday.
Ms Tallett died from a single stab wound to the top of her leg, which punctured a main artery.
The Lockheads, who share a one-bedroom bedsit at the hostel, were remanded in custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Monday, July 23.
No bail application was made.
