MICKY SLADE booked his place in the last eight of the Hampshire singles with a decisive victory in the area final at Fleming Park.
The Southampton Sports Centre bowler beat Middleton Cup player Steve Cleverley (Southampton Old Green) 21-8 and now competes in county finals week which starts on Monday, July 23, at Atherley.
Sports Centre will also be represented in the triples after John Keat, Norman Shelley and Richard Shelley went through 18-14 against Brian Ricketts, Dave Morris and Colin Thresher (Woolston).
Atherley bagged the other triples spot when John Wise, John Armstrong and Alan Rowe outgunned Ray Cartwright, Don King and Ken Marsh (Hants Police) 22-9.
The under-25 singles went to Atherley too with Martin Wise defeating Simon Doig (Fleming Park) 21-12, but the Hill Lane club missed out in the secretaries' championship qualifier where Dennis Durrant fell 21-14 to Vance Wheeler of Aerostructures.
