A HAMPSHIRE-based children's charity is challenging local companies to make a splash for cash by taking part in a bell boat race at this year's Southampton Boat Show.
KIDS is looking for local companies to help boost their Play For All appeal by raising teams of ten to race the long, colourful, catamaran-style canoes along a short course within the Southampton area. The appeal aims to raise £10,000 by April 2002 to provide specialist Saturday clubs and play schemes for children with disabilities and other special needs.
Claire Coxwell, regional director for KIDS, said: "We've had terrific support over the years from local people and businesses.
"The Bell Boat Challenge will be an exhilarating event, with the emphasis on fun, challenge and team-building. Teams need no experience, as we provide all the equipment, and a skilled helmsman."
