A CLAY pigeon shooting club has been told to pack up and move lock, stock and two smoking barrels from its home of 30 years.
Chairman of Brockenhurst Gun Club Bob Philpott told the Post that he believed his members were victims of the Forestry Commission's plans for a new campsite at New Park.
The club has been given until the end of the year to quit their premises close to New Park Farm but Bob said this Sunday's shoot will be the last as the club is running short of clays and does not think it worth re-ordering a new supply until a new home has been found.
"We're the only shooting club in the Forest. I think it is a great shame this has happened," said Bob. "This is a country sport and an Olympic gold medal winning sport. We haven''t had one accident in all the 30 years we've been here."
Bob said the club was now looking for a new site. The club needs a field of at least five acres. If you can help call Bob on 01425 614737.
