TEAM Solent finished on the tails of their mighty Isle of Wight hosts in the Southern Electric Wessex Young Athletes League at Sandown.
But while the all-conquering Islanders wrapped up the title, Solent had the consolation of taking the track man-of-the-match award through middle distance prospect Adrian Chalk.
The 14-year-old Bellemoor schoolboy from Lordshill won the under-15 A-string 800 metres in style, clocking 2.08.2.
Other Solent winners - Under-13 boys: Lemarre Sampson (A 100m 13.1), Paul Handley (A 200m 29.0, A 80m hurdles 14.4), David Bull (A shot 8.56, A discus 20.14), Carl Swain (B shot 6.98, B 80m hurdles 16.3), Lance Cole (B discus 14.76, B javelin 28.97), 4x100m relay.
Under-15 boys: Kieron Lakeland (B 200m 25.1), Alex Wall Clarke (B 400m 59.2, B 800m 2.13.9).
Under-17 boys: Tom Berry (A 200m 23.9, B javelin 34.37), Ben Richardson (B 200m 24.6), Dale Brenton (A javelin 46.38), 4x400m relay.
Under-13 girls: Susan Roberts (A 100m 13.6, A 200m 28.7).
Under-15 girls: Katie Lambert (A 100m 13.8), Charlotte Ashman (A 75m hurdles 16.1).
The under-15 girls took the spotlight for the New Forest Juniors with Ruth Hawkey (18.70) and Laura Nuckley (14.50) pulling off a double first in the javelin and Cassie Gear (27.0) partnering Hollie McManus (27.7) for maximum 200m points.
Gear also won the 100m (13.3), while Emma Brown topped the B shot (6.00) and the 4x100m quartet of Gear, Carly Holder, Nuckley and Hollie McManusthen romped to their first ever relay win.
Other NFJ successes - Hayley Pointer (under-13 girls' 1200m, 4.24.0), Abbie Chouler (under-13 girls' high jump, 1.20), Laurence Bowen (under-15 boys' B 100m, 12.7), Martin Hodge (under-17 boys' B long jump, 4.74).
Lucy Wainwright, Kelly Gear, Amelia Faulkner-White, Aishling Kerr and Katie Gallagher all competed in the girls' under-11s challenge.
