SOUTHAMPTON City made the most of home advantage to chalk up their first win of the season in the Southern Men's League Division 4 West.
Near to full strength in every department apart from the throws, City led from the start and stayed there thanks to strong performances in both the track and jumping events.
Andy Young and Colin French returned from holiday to score a heap of points and, as always, tireless team manager James Martin led by example by competing in seven events.
Youngsters like Toby Burroughs, Richard Boyes and Russell Osborn were also in sharp form as City's hard work this season finally came to fruition.
"Everybody performed well and finally we had the result that reflects the club's potential," summed up Martin.
Although the afternoon was fine to start with at Southampton Sports Centre, it ended in a downpour so fierce that the discus competition had to be abandoned.
