A 10-YEAR-OLD schoolboy is recovering after suffering multiple cuts to his arms when he was attacked by glass-wielding young thugs.
Arron Williams, from Winklebury, fell victim to the attackers in a subway as he was on his way to the ice rink with four friends.
Insp Paul Gatehouse, of Basingstoke police, said two youths grabbed Arron for no apparent reason. One held him while the other picked up a piece of glass and cut his arm several times.
"He broke free and ran away with grazes to his right arm," said Insp Gatehouse.
"At the moment we don't know who the offenders are."
Arron's foster mother, Ann Voler, who has raised six children of her own, is shocked by the motiveless attack.
She said: "Arron was bleeding and upset when he came home. I've lived here for 33 years but I've not seen anything like this."
The two attackers are white and thought to be between 14 and 16 years old.
Anyone who can help the police inquiry into the attack, which took place around 8.30pm last Wednesday, should ring Basingstoke police on 0845 045 45 45.
Alternatively, they can contact the Crimestoppers confidential hotline on 0800 555 111.
