THE NEWLY-ELECTED MP for Fareham has made his maiden speech to Parliament, calling the imposition of housing quotas in the area "madness".
Mark Hoban laid into government targets for building new houses in Hampshire.
The Conservative MP said: "More housing means more car journeys, more children for already overcrowded schools and fewer green fields.
"This madness cannot be allowed to continue."
Mr Hoban also asked the government to think carefully over a rival bid to Vosper Thornycroft's offer to build the new Type 45 destroyer.
He also paid tribute to his predecessor Sir Peter Lloyd and praised the town's history.
