THESE are some of the disturbing images from a street fight in Southampton that took place in front of horrified children.
Up to 30 youngsters enjoying a birthday party in the Above Bar McDonald's restaurant, suddenly found themselves watching a shocking brawl outside which left three people needing hospital treatment for knife, iron bar and bottle wounds.
Fighting broke out between two groups of men, after separate drinking sessions at local bars and pubs. At one point, a motorcyclist and his passenger were thrown off their bike at nearby traffic lights when violence spilled into the road.
Police believe the fighting began after abusive remarks were exchanged between the groups about their respective girlfriends.
The city's CCTV cameras caught the entire incident outside the fast-food restaurant, which started at about 6.15pm on Saturday.
Passers-by watched in horror as the thugs, some stripped to the waist, clashed.
Police are now studying the footage to see if any more arrests can be made. So far two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Detective Sergeant Bob Bowness from Southampton CID said: "This is a very serious and frightening public order offence, especially as there were clearly children present who witnessed it.
"Diners in the nearby McDonald's and Burger King would have had a good view of the incident. During the affray, a double-decker bus also passed the scene. Diners and passengers are asked to contact us with any information.
"A motorcyclist and passenger, both in leather cycling gear, stopped at the scene, but left quickly after themselves being assaulted. We urge they also get in contact with us."
Anyone with any information should call Southampton CID on 084 5045 4545, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
