The latest Hampshire Food Festival attracted cuisine lovers from far and wide.
This was held at various venues across the county and gave both local people and visitors to Hampshire the chance to taste, buy and find out about the wealth of fine food and drink available locally, and in the restaurants and pubs serving Hampshire produce.
Activities ranged from events for tasting asparagus and ice cream, to bee-keeping demonstrations and tours of vineyards.
The festival culminated in Winchester Guildhall with a food hall of speciality producers offering a wide range of local delicacies, and a gourmet food court with five Hampshire restaurants and pubs serving starter-size signature dishes in the same room.
This gave people the opportunity to enjoy the delights of five menus for one meal. There were 11 starters, six main courses and seven desserts on offer.
Dishes were freshly prepared by Milburn, caterers to the Winchester Guildhall, the Restaurant at Wickham Vineyard, the Westgate Hotel in Winchester, Wooldings Vineyard Restaurant at Whitchurch, and the Albion at Winchester.
Signature dishes available ranged from wild mushroom and tarragon tart, and trout and sorrel terrine for starters, to handmade organic beefburgers with Hampshire watercress and spring onions, and marinated venison with wild mushroom salad for main course.
Soft meringue roulade with strawberries, and poached pear with chocolate mousse, were just two of the desserts available.
Hampshire Fare marketing officer Tim Brock said: "Given the success of the second Hampshire Food Festival, ideas for the next festival are already underway. While people are more aware of the benefits of buying local food, there is still some way to go - and the food festival is a good way both to promote and celebrate the fine produce available in the county."
