SOUTHAMPTON lad David Butterworth jets off to Rhodes tomorrow with the England men's under-20 basketball team.
The Thames Valley Tiger has been named in a 12-strong squad to face Greece, Yugoslavia, Georgia, Portugal and Germany in a hectic schedule of five games in five days in the European Championship Qualifying Tournament.
It is the first time England have entered a team in the junior age-group and the challenge is to finish in the top-two to qualify for next summer's finals. Butterworth, an Itchen College student, started his career with the Southampton Trailblazers and spent a year at the Plainfield High Schoo, USA.
