SOUTHAMPTON Spitfires have made a solid start to their defence of the Masterclass Seniors Club Classic four and six-man team championships.
The six-man team of Peter Price, Howard Moxon, David Buckett, Peter Thompson, Patrick Burke and Jim Hayball beat Ham Manor away by a massive 27 points in the first of their regional league matches.
Also in their group are Came Down, Oak Park, Weston-Super-Mare and Landsowne with the teams playing each other home and away.
The four-man is a knock-out competition and the Spitfires quartet of Price, Moxon, Buckett and Burke beat Came Down 4-0.
Spitfires, the only non-club team in the prestigious national competition, have Stoneham as their home venue.
