FORMER world darts champion Les Wallace has been given a two-week suspended prison sentence for failing to pay hundreds of pounds of council tax.
The popular Southampton star was warned yesterday that he will be jailed unless he keeps up his repayments.
Wallace, who picked up £38,000 for winning the Embassy World Darts Championship just four years ago, had financial problems and could not afford to pay the debts, city magistrates were told.
The father-of-four owes Southampton City Council £778.73 over a three-year period from April 1, 1997 to May 31 last year.
He admitted non-payment of council tax.
