POLICE are hunting a fat thug who hit a Southampton schoolgirl over the head with an umbrella.
The 16-year-old was set upon by the youth as she walked in Spring Road, Sholing, around 5.40pm on Saturday.
Police said the teenager tried to steal the handbag before lashing out with his brolly across her head and face when she resisted.
The mugger ran off empty-handed after other people appeared.
The attacker is said to be Afro Caribbean, aged about 17, with a fat build and short black hair.
