THE spring season at The Nuffield, Southampton, promises a wealth of Saturday entertainment for younger theatregoers.

The eclectic entertainment, including everything from puppet-making workshops to a flea circus, has been lined up for every Saturday at the venue as part of its theatre First season for children.

The events, which take place in the Mini-Theatre in the Gallery Restaurant and the main auditorium, kicks off on Saturday, January 20, with a modern re-working of classic pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk.

On January 27, The Floaty Flying Show shows how to build a flying machine, while, on March 3, a performance of Baby Love, a positive tale of sibling harmony, is for children having to cope with the arrival of a new brother or sister.

The Garlic Puppet Theatre brings its troupe of performing fleas on March 10, and on March 17 you can see an exclusive performance of The Sorcerer's Apprentice, originally created for the London Chil-dren's Theatre Festival.

Shows in the main auditorium include the Treasure Trove Puppet Company's version of Cinderella on February 3 and Walking the Tightrope on February 10.
