CONSTRUCTION specialists Mansell has paid tribute to its best sub-contractors at a recognition lunch, held in its North Baddesley southern regional offices.

Selected for special praise were Hampshire Roofing, from Basingstoke, who have been working on a particularly complicated contract at St Michael's House, University College in Chichester.

Other star performers included Kilbren Contracts of Chichester, responsible for groundworks at St Michael's House and SER Carpentry of Portsmouth, who provided excellent quality work for the students' residential accommodation on the same scheme.

D & M Electrical of Hamble-le-Rice was singled out for congratulations for work on Winchester's Theatre Royal, on an extremely restricted site. Salisbury-based Spire Glass was lauded for its co-operation and team spirit while working for Man-sell at Perham Down, Tidworth and Longbarrow in Bournemouth. C V Buchan of Northwich was praised for work on HM Prison Coldingley.

"It is important that we recognise excellence from our supply chain," said Dennis Curling, Mansell's director of marketing south region. "We are totally committed to the principles of the government's Egan Report to maintain the highest standards in the construction in-dustry and encourage closer working partnerships at every level.

"Mansell works with its clients on partnering contracts ranging from housing and retail, to the restoration of historic buildings, as well as hi-tech projects for the telecom-munications industry. This year it received the best practice award from the DETR's Construction Best Practice Programme for the company's commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.''
