NEW-LOOK wards at Romsey Hospital are set to be officially opened today after years of fundraising by Southampton Community Health Services NHS Trust and Romsey Hospital Appeal.
More than £830,000 has been raised by the appeal and the Romsey Hospital League of Friends since 1998 for the refurbishment of the hospital.
Trust chief executive Mike Lager commented: "Romsey Hospital is going from strength to strength.
"This is yet another step ensuring that its proud record of serving local people - stretching back 102 years - will continue far into the future as well."
But a spokeswoman for the hospital said there was still more work to be done.
"Our patients desperately need more car parking - especially as we hope to extend the range of health services here," she said.
Earlier improvements at the hospital included upgrading the outpatients department and the rehabilitation wing.
