STEVE TROTT was the happiest man in the Pirelli General camp after the Hampshire League Premier Division leaders won 2-0 at East Cowes Vics on Saturday.

The former Eastleigh striker was having his first game for ninth months after breaking his ankle, and he celebrated with the second goal in the second half which broke Vics' resistance. Robbie Clarke had hit the first from the penalty spot.

Stockbridge stayed on Pirelli's heels after scoring twice in the last 15 minutes to edge a 4-3 win at Hythe and Dibden. Phil Swainston hit a hat-trick for Hythe, scoring twice from the spot as they twice came from behind to lead 3-2.

Alton Town were flying high in their home game with West Wight Mayflower. RAF men Trevor Frew and Paul Feeney scored as Alton romped home 4-0. The main scoring honours went to Aaron Strudwick who bagged a brace.

Manager Dave Griffiths thought he'd nicked a last minute winner for Aldermaston in their basement battle against Esso Fawley. Griffiths came on as sub and tapped home a cross from Tommy Barnes but was ruled marginally offside.

So the match ended up as a 1-1 draw with teenager Steve Nearey scoring the first half goal which stretched Aldermaston's unbeaten run to four games.

Winchester's big guns were blazing again in Division 1. Castle won 5-1 at AC Delco thanks to strikes from Matt Woods (2), a Paul Warren penalty, Jason Ahmet and a super 22-yard strike from Stu Laing.

Anything Castle could do, so could Winchester City who thumped Tadley 5-0 with John Vowles (2), Stu Findlay, Andy Chainey and Mark Daubney doing the damage.

Romsey Town leaked three goals in the last 15 minutes to crash 4-0 to Paulsgrove. Alan Smith hit five goals for Romsey Reserves and still finished up on the losing side with Laverstock & Ford Reserves winning their Combination duel 7-5.

Brothers Paul and Wayne Jones scored for QK Southampton who reversed a half-time deficit to win the Division 2 derby against Hedge End 2-1. Laverstock & Ford won 2-0 at Hamble Club to avenge an early-season defeat by the same margin.
