ICE HOCKEY: REVENGE will be on the minds of the Basingstoke Bison as they enter this weekend, writes Graham Merry.

On Saturday (7pm) they travel to Milton Keynes, the scene of a 2-1 defeat earlier in the season, and on Sunday (6pm) Fife make their first league visit to Basingstoke and the Bison will then look to avenge a 6-1 league defeat in Kirkcaldy before Christmas.

The Wella-backed side will still be minus Canadian forward Dru Burgess due to his knee injury.

Coach Charlie Colon has not brought in another import because he hopes this will be the final weekend that Burgess will be watching from the sidelines.

Also missing from the Bison line-up this weekend will be young defenceman Adam Greener.

He will be out for at least three weeks after breaking his hand on Slough Jets captain Jason Kendall's helmet during a fight.

This was in the final warm-up game for Great Britain under-20s, before they flew out to the world championships to Lithuania.

Fellow Bison Danny Meyers was involved in the tournament and returns from the eastern block country today and will be in the squad this weekend.

Canadian defenceman Brian Mason, who broke three ribs in a car crash in November, started skating with the team again last night , but is still at least a fortnight away from returning to league action.

Colon said: "With Dru missing, we have the same side that beat leaders Coventry in our last league game.

"The Milton Keynes game we know will not be easy but we cannot afford to drop points."

He added: "Having lost to Fife in their barn we must beat them at home."
