A SCHOOL crossing patrolwoman has retired after five years of helping youngsters cross the busy Vigo Road.
Ann Vine, described as a 'pillar of the community' by Vigo Junior School headteacher Bernard Whitfield, has ensured pupils of Vigo Infants, Vigo Juniors and Norman Gate can get to and from school in safety.
Mr Whitfield said: "Mrs Vine has provided us with an invaluable service for the Vigo community schools for a number of years."
Ann said: "I have loved every minute of it." But now the schools at Vigo Road are without a crossing patrol person. Anyone interested should phone Hampshire County Council.
