Puss in Boots: Dalian Players, Woolston Methodist Hall, January 9-13

Rollo is a baker who works for the family firm while moonlighting for Alldays. He is related to Crusty, Dusty, Daisy and Maisie, four other bakers who provide the comic interest.

He is the hero who ends up naked on stage leaving his cat to explain why.

If that sounds nothing like the Puss In Boots of your childhood experiences, you're not alone. Be assured, however, that every other aspect of this pantomime is traditional.

Rollo is in love with the beautiful Princess Emerald. Unfortunately, her mum is not pleased, but Rollo is determined to win Emmie's affections and decides to gatecrash her party. In a bizarre attempt to disguise the fact that he is poor, our cunning hero sheds his clothes and swims across the lake to the bash, where Puss wraps him in a cloak until a smart new outfit is provided by the palace, allowing him to attend the party in style and impress his intended.

Providing the dastardly deeds is Baron Blackheart, who collects cats - not because he is a moggy lover, but because he wants to make a coat from their skins. Of course, he gets his come-uppance after Puss tricks him and the bakers turn him into their slave where he ends up washing 550 windows.

There's lots of audience participation of the "he's behind you," and "oh, no he isn't" variety, as well as slapstick, cream-cake throwing and singalongs to tunes like S Club 7's Reach for the Stars and a jazzy number called Everyone Wants to be a Cat. The dancing is provided by Woolston's Roynon Dancers.

Tickets are £3.50 (concessions £2.50), available from the box office on 023 8043 8596.
