SNOWS F and BAT A are now three points adrift at the bottom of the Kings Volvo Division One having played one more game than Hedge End A.

This week both sides lost 9-1 in the latest round of Southampton League matches - Snows F crashing to Snows E, who had Dick Hayes and Peter Brown undefeated with Anne Longland winning twice. Reserve Keith Hewitt won the only game for Snows F.

Hedge End A moved away from the relegation area by defeating BAT A 9-1. Ken Butt and Martin Cheffy won all their games for Hedge End, while Colin Butt won twice, only losing to Andrzej Ottembrajt 19-21, 21-16, 16-21.

There was an excellent 6-4 win for BAT A over high-flying Waterside C. Paul Winteridge was unbeaten while Andrzej Ottembrajt won twice.

For Waterside C, Rob Carr won two and Rob Doe and Idris Vernall each won one. All the games that Waterside lost, except for one, went to three games.

Four T's A stay at the top of the table after defeating OSA 7-3.

Ken Palmer, Martin Ceresa and Mark Kimber each won twice for Four T's, while Phil Allen won two and reserve Doug Taylor won one for O.S.

St Denys A maintain their lead at the top of Division 2 with a 6-4 win over Insurance B. Dave Dobson won all three of his games for St Denys, while Barry Dobson and Ian Fursey chipped in with one each.

Woolston A just managed to scramble a 6-4 win against two-man Snows G. Colin Browning was unbeaten for Woolston and Roger Best and Stuart Lyon each won two for Snows G.

The bottom of the table clash between Waterside E & F saw the match finishing in a 5-5 draw.

John Stubbs and Row-land Spencer-Smith each won two and David Goodyer won one for the E team. Scott Ashmore and John Slade each won twice for the F team.

Reserve Garry Green was unbeaten for BAT B when they drew 5-5 with Hedge End C. Barry Wilson won one and teamed up with Witek Ottembrajt to take the doubles.

Barry Morse and Shapour Mehrkar each won twice and Terry Mills chipped in with one game for Hedge End.
