theatre: How it Works! Nuffield Theatre, Wednesday January 10
Theatre: How it Works! is an exciting behind-the-scenes look at what's involved in creating a professional show which takes place at the Nuffield Theatre next month.
Young people considering what GCSE options to take will be given an introduction to various aspects of theatre production, from administration to promotion and even some tips on acting.
"It's a workshop along the lines of our Play Day sessions," says Nuffield Theatre marketing officer, Andrea Lawson.
"It's where a director will talk about taking a production from page to the stage for anybody interested in how a production ends up on stage - amateur groups, parties of school children and older students."
There will also be an opportunity to meet the cast and crew of this year's Christmas panto, Treasure Island, and to find out just what is involved in being a lighting or sound engineer.
With informal talks, discussions and question and answer sessions, Theatre: How it Works! is an invaluable hands-on experience for those interested in having a career behind-the-scenes of showbusiness.
