MORE than 1,400 irresponsible drivers have been caught speeding through the 50mph limit in M27 road works.
Drivers ignored repeated warnings to slow on their commuter route on the stretch of road between Hamble and Fareham.
Most were fined and had penalty points imposed by magistrates.
A police spokesman said: "Most drivers keep to the 50mph limit, but there is a sizeable irresponsible minority which can't even slow down for only five miles.''
