BRIAN Asuncion is just 20-years-old but this talented young rugby player could be destined to play for arguably the best rugby-playing nation in the world, his home country of New Zealand.

But instead of honing his skills in the southern hemisphere, this promising prop is currently in Britain sharing his knowledge and playing expertise with another set of all blacks, the Andover All Blacks.

The Kiwi youngster has taken a year out from a sports science degree and has come to the Hampshire club to play for the town club's senior 1st XV and help train the club's youngsters - all of whom, incidentally, like the New Zealand national side, play in black.

He has also taught some of the children - as part of a team building exercise - the famous New Zealand Haka: a war dance traditionally performed before matches by the real All Blacks.

Asuncion has aready been captain of the Northlands Under-19s (an area that is bigger than Wales) and could be set for even bigger things as he enters the senior set up. Brought over by cash sponsorship from Oakwood Shopfitters, an Andover based firm, he is currently the first choice Andover 1st XV prop forward and has been a regular in the HSA sponsored team's London London Three (SW) matches and has worked with many of the club's young sides.

And, as a bit of fun, he has taught coach, Mike Cronin's Under-11s, the Haka.

Andover has a thriving youth set up, which is sponsored by Andover-based tea producers Twinings, but always welcomes new members. Training is at 10am to 12 noon on Sunday mornings at Foxcotte Park in Charlton.
