LADY golfers from the New Forest will be swinging their clubs to raise cash for the South's leading medical research charity, Hope.

Pauline Palmer, ladies captain of the Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club, plans a coffee morning in March, followed by a Captain's shot gun team event in May, and a summer barbecue in August.

Ms Palmer said: "We chose Hope because it is such a worthwhile charity. Acting Trust Direc-tor Peter Hall said: "We are very plea-sed that Broken-hurst Manor has chosen us as its charity to support. Every penny raised will be ploughed back into vital medical research."

Hope is a multi- disease charity, which raises money for research into infant asthma, Alzheimer's Disease, breast and ovarian cancers, leukaemia, liver and heart disease, meningitis, depressive illnesses, as well as other diseases.

The charity has four completely volunteer groups which are based in Guernsey, Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester.
