HAMPSHIRE police dealt with the first case of flood rage when a pedestrian was thumped by a driver and suffered a fractured jaw.
The incident happened in Sutton Scotney, near Winchester, at about 1.30pm on Saturday.
A 56-year-old man was tackling the flood water in Oxford Road when a car drove past at some speed, creating a high wave. The man remonstrated and moments later the driver got out of his car, walked back and assaulted him, said Sgt Bill Ord, of Twyford police.
A 21-year-old local man was arrested by police on Sunday, and later released on police bail.
The victim, who has not been named, is due to give a formal statement when he is well enough. Sgt Ord said there were several witnesses to the incident
