BOOK week has become a hardy annual at Hiltingbury Junior School in Chandler's Ford, where children's author Jean Ure was invited to talk to pupils and to pass on some expert tips to budding young wordsmiths during a writing workshop.
Book Week, typical of activities that make the school special, was one reason why Hiltingbury Junior School became a Beacon school last June.
It was the first appearance of an author during book week and head teacher Sophy Blakeway said: "The children were very excited. It is an excellent way of encouraging the children's interest in books and writing
