Tichborne Park hauled themselves off the Winchester & District League basement with a thumping 60-run victory over high-riding Swanmore at River Park.

They rattled up a massive 160-5, with Brian Prevett (47 not out), Andy Joyce (31), Paul Primmer (30) and Martin Butler (25) leading the way.

Second-placed Swanmore were never in the hunt, reaching a comfortable 100-2.

Leaders Easton & Martyr Worthy scored a fifth successive win, beating their own B team (61 all out) by five wickets.

They lead Swanmore by 24 points, with third-placed Old Alresford even further adrift, despite bowling St Cross out for 53 and winning by five wickets.

Andy Heyes showed there is no substitute for class by hitting an elegant 26 not out in Sparsholt's six-wicket win over Worthy Down (112-4).

Ex-South Wilts batsman Will Hearsey joined Heyes in a flowing opening partnership.

South East Hants League pace-setters Fareham & Crofton had their unbeaten record shattered by near neighbours Portchester at Park Lane.

Even normally prolific Welshman Rob Thomas was off-form as Fareham sank to 57 all out, despite restricting Portchester to a modest 84-5.
