Lymington Choral Society will be marking the 250th anniversary of the death of Bach by performing his Christmas Oratorio at St Thomas's Church, Lymington, on Saturday, December 9.
The programme also includes excerpts from a ceremony of carols by Britten and there will be performances by the Highcliffe Junior Choir, the St Cecilia Sinfonietta and young professional soloists Leigh Woolf, Joshua Ellicott and James Rutherford. Mezzo soprano Leigh has just returned to the Royal College of Music as a senior exhibitioner, tenor Joshua is a York University music graduate now studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and bass James has recently been described in The Times as "one of the most remarkable talents to come forward in opera since Bryn Terfal."
Tickets, at £7 are available on the door and at Leigh's Fabrics and Maxwell Hamilton, in Lymington High Street.
