THE appallingly wet weather was the only winner in a decimated Eastleigh & District Mini-Soccer League programme last Sunday.
Torrential overnight rain washed out all of the scheduled Under-9 and Under-10 Cup matches leaving just a lucky seven survivors in the Under-8 section.
Splashing their way to a convincing victory in the Subsidary Cup were White Division championship chasers Colden Common who went nap against Townhill Dragons, strikes from two-goal Daniel Pemberton, Harrison Pothecary, Matthew Hawkes and Alex Welsh doing the business.
However, Townhill will be represented in the next round as their Eagles side swooped for a 4-0 victory against Tadburn Panthers courtesy of efforts from Jack Brewer (2), Bradley Peake and Bradley Snelling.
Pirelli Red needed a spot of Sunday overtime before eventually squeezing past Alresford Lions 4-2 after normal time saw the two teams dealocked at 2-2.
The Cablemen's two-goal Stephen Brown, Aiden Grer-Reed and Ryan Peacock finally securing them the verdict.
But extra-time failed to separate Tadburn Tigers and Albion A as the sides finished all square at 0-0. In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, successful conversions by Bradley Herring, James Gibson and Stephen Costin gave Albion a narrow 3-2 passage.
Blue Division table-toppers Testwood are chasing a possible League and Jim Pearson Cup double following their 3-1 success over Waterside neighbours Fawley Falcons, two-goal Craig Kinchington and Conor Browne finding the net to scupper Falcons' Ross Melton.
Littleton contributed towards their own downfall with two own goals in a 3-1 reverse at the hands of St Francis Rangers, Michael Hill netted Saints' third with Eamon Hart scoring at the right end for Littleton.
A twin strike from Tyler Betteridge gave S&D the nod over Alresford Tigers' Ben Wilson, while Pirelli Blue and Baddesley are scheduled to play their outstanding second round tie tomorrow.
