UNWELCOME travellers have been given until Monday to leave a Hampshire village green.
The caravan dwellers were served with a magistrates' court order by Fareham council on Thursday requiring them to leave by the following day.
To villagers' dismay they decided to stay put and the council went to Fareham magistrates to get the final eviction order which gives them a few days' extra respite, including the weekend.
Villagers complained to the council when the travellers occupied the car park outside the hall next to Sarisbury Green, because they say they felt intimidated and refused to use the hall.
They had already seen their car park used as a temporary home two weeks ago and earlier in the year. Clear-up costs borne by the council ran into hundreds of pounds after the travellers left.
