WORK is starting on a series of improvements to make life easier for Winchester cyclists.
Over the next few weeks kerbs will be dropped in several places: Bridge Street, Romsey Road, Worthy Lane, Stoke Road, Friarsgate/Cossack Lane/Middle Brook Street.
Direction signs will be erected at The Weirs and Friarsgate/Cossack Lane/Middle Brook Street.
The work is being paid for by the county council and is part of a six-figure scheme to make the city more cycle-friendly.
John Edwards, chairman of the Winchester Cycle Group, said: "This is just a start, but it is a good start. There is a long list of more substantial schemes which have already been agreed by the city and county councils. The challenge now is to get started on those."
